Framingham Adult English as a Second Language PLUS (FAESL+) is the adult education program funded in part by the MetroWest ESL Fund. FAESL+ was established in 1984 by a group of concerned citizens in the community using private donations, and it has grown from 30 students at its beginning to over 1,000 students by 2023..
Framingham Adult ESL Plus offers 10 levels of English as a Second Language instruction. The focus is on developing effective communication skills.
The program offers multi-levels of adult basic education. The focus is on developing reading and writing skills and helping students to obtain a High School Equivalency Diploma.
The FAESL+ program operates as a department of Framingham Public Schools, which provides space and support for its classes.
The majority of funding is from State and Federal grants. However, the program is still dependent on community and private donations, as well as the MetroWest ESL Fund's fundraising events to continue providing the classes that its students need.
